Meet OUR interns!

 Hello everyone, I’m Keila. I’m in my senior year of my social work program at Walden University and working on my internship with Tailor Made. I’m passionate about child welfare, advocating, and social justice. I’m excited to learn the essential practice skills of case management, advocating, problem-solving, and empathy, all there is to expand my knowledge. I’m excited and looking forward to the experience and to learn with everyone at this agency. I want to be able to make a positive impact on individuals and communities. I enjoy reading books and spending quality time with my family and partner in my free time.  

  Elizabeth S. is a professional and compassionate social work intern with a profound commitment to creating a positive change in communities and individuals. With a bachelor's degree in psychology and completing a master of social work degree, Elizabeth has applied her skills by focusing on complicated social concerns and supplying assistance to those in need. Her passion for addressing social issues is noticeable in her efforts to raise awareness of oppressed populations and promote inclusivity. 

During the span of her career, Elizabeth has demonstrated extraordinary skillfulness in case management, community outreach, and therapeutic services. Elizabeth's commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth is evident in her participation in seminars, ongoing educational opportunities, and hands-on training. As a master of social work student, Elizabeth values sympathy, empathy, and dedication, leading to a lasting positive impact on the clients she serves. 

  My name is Ashley. I'm currently a Wright State MSW student with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a double minor in Psychology and Health Science from Wittenberg University. I currently work at Applied Behavioral Services (ABS) where I work with children who have autism. I have been working at ABS for 4 1/2 years. I help these kids with their social skills, communication skills, functional living skills, and many more skills that they need to work on. Things that I would like to gain from this internship experience are learning how to review, read, and put together a treatment plan for clients. I would also like to learn how to complete a diagnostic assessment for clients. Lastly, and most importantly, being able to engage with clients and building rapport with them in a therapeutic setting. I can't wait to learn new things! 

 Valerie completed her BA in Sociology from California State University Dominguez Hills, a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Leo University, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work from Walden University School of Social Work.

Valerie worked for the Department of Homeland Security, NASA, and the Department of the Navy.

Valerie believes therapy can be life-changing for all of us, especially during a crisis. Her approach to therapy requires an empathic clinician who cares, listens to you, and is passionate about their job. Valerie believes you are the expert on yourself and a critical part of the treatment team. Her philosophy is that both of you will collaborate to find

coping skills and solutions to help you with any issues you might be facing and work together to create meaningful change.

Valerie has experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, anger management, depression, female concerns, low self-esteem, and other trauma or disorders. During her sessions, she maintains a relaxed and affirming environment where you, as a client,

can openly discuss anything on your mind. She listens to your feedback and adjusts the treatment based on what works for you. Valerie uses various treatment techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Task-Centered Practice, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, and other modalities. She believes that through the work that you do together as a team, you will gain different tools to help you create a better life.
